May Journaling
1. Our travel buddies, John
and Esther are taking us out for dinner for my birthday. They’re such good
friends and so thoughtful.
2. Hormone doctor
appointment; housekeeper; and a cardiologist appointment with my mom. Busy day.
3. Scrambling to finish my
lesson for Thursday. Done. Whew! Just heard our return flight was cancelled and
rebooked for when our ship arrives in port so we have to change it.
4. Beginning Ephesians. There
is only one lady out of eleven of us that has a hard time with
election/predestination. Errands.
5. Writing. Errands.
6. Shopping. We bought new
luggage and some clothes and shoes for our trip.
7. Church and a VBS planning
meeting.
8. Chiro and massage and
errands. We got our fence fixed. The one at the side of the house was wavy.
9. Finally finished my lesson
for Thursday. 21 hours of research and writing for Ephesians chapter one.
10. We bought luggage and are
beginning to do something each day to prepare. We pre-ordered the drinks
package and some excursions.
11. Teaching, then getting
euro for our trip, then an eye appointment so I get new glasses before travel
since mine have broken frames.
12. Finally finished
Deuteronomy 32 for my podcast. It took two weeks because I was so busy and it
is a long chapter. It’s also my sister’s 61st birthday today.
13. My husband helped my
mother-in-law purchase a new dishwasher.
14. My mother-in-law is 78
today. I’ll post a picture. She looks amazing. Still works out every day. My
husband went to help hook up her new dishwasher. Went to purchase a new dryer.
Terrified of a fire after what happened with the bbq.
15. Writing for my class on
Thursday; Ephesians 2.
16. We had to rebook our
flights because one of them was cancelled. Same time frame generally but
different airlines and layover locations. Pain clinic today.
17. Set our mail to be on
hold while we’re gone. Arranging for my mom to go to London while we’re gone.
Our new dryer arrived today. AC maintenance. Missed prayer meeting tonight;
still working on my message for tomorrow.
18. My students are so gracious.
We decided to cut the lesson in half today because it’s so full. I can breathe
a bit.
19. Went out for fish and
chips. Yikes, they were not cheap.
20. My mom has been weak and
fatigued lately. I wonder if she’s getting anemic again.
21. Church. Our third grandchild
is three today.
22. Victoria Day. There is a
garden party today and we’re chipping for a bouncy castle.
23. Writing, and out for a
walk with my husband. Not much stamina, it’s been a while.
24. Dentist today. Getting a
requisition for bloodwork for my mom to check for anemia.
25. Bible study.
26. Women’s retreat this
weekend at Elim Lodge. I’m driving.
27. Wow. The topic is Enjoy
Your God. It was incredible.
28. It was a great weekend
and it was nice to catch up with the speaker, Heather, whom I’ve known for over
30 years.
29. My mom’s bloodwork came
back and her hgb was very low (67) normal is 140-160. So the doctor suggested
going to the ER where her haematologist is. So after waiting 3-1/2 hours she
got in, and they gave her three units of packed red blood cells (PRBC)
overnight. I went home for supper and returned at 2 am thinking she’d be ready
to go home. At that point she’d had two units and was waiting on the repeat CBC
to see how much the transfusions had helped. At five a.m. it was only at 77. I
learned later that on admission, her hgb was 53 so it did raise it as expected,
(10 points per unit) but it was still low. So they offered her another unit
since she was there and had an i.v. in. So I went home to sleep and she took a
cab home at 2 p.m. when all was said and done. Her hgb went up to 88 and she is
asymptomatic and has pink cheeks now. I wanted to take care of it before we
went away on our cruise. I didn’t want to leave any issues for my cousin to
deal with. Whether they’ll reinvestigate for a cause or not, I don’t know. They
didn’t find anything when she was hospitalized a year and a half ago for
anemia. No active bleeding. Although she has been taking Aleve, which can cause
internal bleeding. Plus she’s on blood thinners. Anyway, crisis averted.
30. Housekeeper today. Slept
all day.
31. Going to Hamilton to help
out. The kids were given a full size trampoline with safety net. They have a
good life.
